On Thursday night May 17, as the sun was setting behind the trees outside, Amherst Survival Center launched a new monthly Open Mic. Hosted by Ronald Meck, well-known local folksinger and guitarist, it drew an audience of about forty people.
Acts included original songs on guitar by Damon and Rhythm, vaudeville featuring our director on banjo and the comedy team of Grins and Chuckles, Amherst's famous Motown Man on bucket and kazoo, and the ethereal singing of our own beloved Smiles.
Join us on the third Thursday of each month, from 6:30
to 8, to hear the wealth of talent that exists at the Center and in the community.
Poets, singers, dancers and players are all welcome to perform. Come in anytime
to sign up!
