VOLUNTEERING

Members of the group will have the opportunity to be involved in several volunteer activities this semester. Among them will be our continued support and aid with one of Amherst's soup kitchens, "Not Bread Alone", participation in "Relay for Life". We are also currently working on organizing a clinical volunteer group with Cooley-Dickinson hospital in Northampton.

In the past, our group has worked with "Not Bread Alone" on numerous occasions and even helped to fundraise over $1000.00 for the organization! We also raised nearly $150.00 by selling AIDS awareness ribbons on World AIDS Day December 1st. All of the proceeds went to an AIDS charity based in Boston, MA

Some important dates to keep in mind:

Want to volunteer at the local soup kitchen? Sign up for one of our volunteer days and help the local community!

Approximate time for this volunteer event is from 2:30PM - 5:30PM.

DID YOU KNOW?
The highest g-force endured was 82.6g for 0.04 seconds on a water-braked rocket sled by Eli L. Beeding, Jr., at Holloman Air Force Base on May 16, 1958. He was hospitalized for three days.

If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days, you would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee.

Americans on average eat 18 acres of pizza every day.

The human heart creates enough pressure when it pumps blood, that it could squirt blood 30 feet.
