ABOUT US

The Mission Statement of the University of Massachusetts Amherst Pre-Medical Society (UMPS) is to "provide useful information, connections, and activities for those students with an interest in the pre-health sciences”. The Society meets as a group every two to three weeks and in smaller units on a more regular basis. All aspects of the pre-health concentration are considered, with subcommittees focused on volunteering, social activities, public relations, academic opportunities, and group fundraising. Meetings and events may include anything from a guest speaker, like a doctor or medical professional, to lecturing on the admissions process, MCAT workshops, late-night pizza parties, and numerous other things. UMPS does it's best to provide anything that our members suggest to us. If you would like more information, please contact UMPS at our g-mail address:

DID YOU KNOW?
The highest g-force endured was 82.6g for 0.04 seconds on a water-braked rocket sled by Eli L. Beeding, Jr., at Holloman Air Force Base on May 16, 1958. He was hospitalized for three days.

If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days, you would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee.

Americans on average eat 18 acres of pizza every day.

The human heart creates enough pressure when it pumps blood, that it could squirt blood 30 feet.
