My role in providing weed science expertise with the University of Massachusetts Cooperative Extension has been demanding in spite of a limited formal Extension assignment.  I have published over 70 popular style articles for farmers, industry, and urban clientele.  My program has had considerable impact on adoption of improved technology in weed management in the Northeast. The Agricultural Producers, golf course managers, commodity groups, chemical companies, and university research and extension personnel have used my advice throughout my career. My advice and research results have been used extensively by the Massachusetts Department of Food and Agriculture in considering special and state registrations of herbicides as well as by EPA for Federal registrations.
