It is so unfortunate that the magnificent environment of the Köprülü Kanyon National Park and its rich yet fragile resources are under tremendous pressure. Causes are multiple: global economy, cultural depletion, lack of education, rapidly changing life styles, and tourism are the main ones. The garbage that is deposited in the crevices of the terrain and in the depths of the woods is beyond conception. Once culturally working landscapes, today have turned into culturally polluted and naturally depleted sites. While the accumulation of solid waste and illegal construction are the most visible types of disturbances, the social pollution is the most alarming. As a result, wildlife disappears and the natural environment becomes virtually sterile. It becomes dominated by a single species such as wild boar and pine that are the clear and dramatic indications of severe abuse.
